As a high school student back in Poland, I was awarded 1st place in the National Russian Language Mastery Competition. It helped me to land on the Russian Philology Faculty in the famous Jagiellonian University in Krakow, the second oldest university in central Europe. In the third semester, I started to study simultaneously also Serbo-Croatian on the Slavic Philology Faculty. As a university student, I used to work as a sworn translator from Serbo-Croatian to Polish and opposite in the Polish Court. I also used to work seasonally as a guide and translator for tourist groups from the former Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union. I was also a personal translator for business people from Yugoslavia. I once spent some time in Moscow and once in Saint Petersburg (at that time called Leningrad). After I got my Master Degree in Russian in 1977, I worked for 4 years in one of the national enterprises as a translator of technical materials and documents from Russian to Polish and opposite. I also translated from Russian to Polish a Doctoral Dissertation for a person defending his Thesis in Poland. At the beginning of the 90's, I translated from English to Polish all the written and audio materials for Network 21, a huge training organization with Amway Corporation that was about to enter Polish market. I was also providing simultaneous translation for some of the American speakers during the trainings held by Network 21 in Poland. Recently, I also prepared a website in Russian for our family business operation. I also used to translate from English to Russian various texts and documents for my Russian friends and acquaintances who don't speak English. (I also used to read to my children Russian fairy tales and alike, simultaneously translating them to Polish or English as they fluently speak both these languages.)
